Our story
The Walker ranch is most notably known for the historic Chimney Rock that was located just outside of Freedom standing nearly 400 feet tall at one time. This structure is what inspired the logo that you see today for Walker’s Western Store.
The structure toppled on March 13, 1973 or was officially recorded on that date. Wade’s dad often tells the story of how he was driving on the ranch during a normal work day and he almost thought he was in the wrong place without being able to see the historic landmark.
Our families have been ranching in Northwest Oklahoma for the last 4 generations. We look forward to carrying on the Western lifestyle that our great-granddads started years ago and sharing that tradition with you at Walker’s Western Store.
Our first Walker’s Western Store was opened November 2022 in Downtown Woodward, Oklahoma. Our second location was opened September 2023 in Downtown Enid, Oklahoma.
Our story is just getting started………..
Chimney Rock once standing tall and mighty on the historic Walker Ranch.
From next to nothing, the 20,000 acre Walker Ranch was accumulated over a span of 50 years starting in the early 1900s by Simpson Walker, Sr. pictured above with his herd of Hereford cattle. The ranch is still owned and operated by the family today.
